Patrik Fjällberg joins our investment team as Investment Manager. Patrik’s roots in the startup ecosystem go back to Aalto University and Startup Sauna. From there, he went on to Aaltoes, where he ran a startup accelerator and co-founded SILTA, the Finnish founder house in Silicon Valley, which brings early-stage founders to San Francisco to help their companies grow into global ones. 

Since then, Patrik has invested in startups at both early and later stages. At Greencode Ventures, he invested in early-stage European companies driving the green transition. Most recently, at Tesi, the Finnish sovereign fund, he focused on investments from Series A onward in sectors such as energy, industry, defense and AI. Across those stages, he has seen what it takes to get from a first prototype to commercial scale. 

The next technological shift is happening in atoms 

The world has seen a massive shift since AI and automation took over the digital world. Patrik’s conviction is that the next shift is happening in the physical world, in atoms. Physical AI, robotics, quantum and industrial deep tech are becoming capable enough to bring intelligence into foundational industries. 

Together, those industries account for a vast share of global GDP, and everything else runs on top of them. They are also among the least digitalized and least venture-funded sectors, still running on aging systems. That gap makes the opportunity huge. 

“Bringing intelligence into the physical world will be one of the biggest technological revolutions we have seen, if not the biggest”, Patrik states. 

Europe is well positioned to capture the opportunity 

The shift won’t be as fast as it was in the digital world, and it will take time to build the next wave of generational companies. It will need founders who have the guts to tackle the hard, complex problems, and a deep understanding of the industries they are rebuilding. The founders who succeed will solve some of the most urgent problems we’re facing today, like labor shortages, energy constraints, fragile supply chains and decarbonization. 

Europe has the industrial base, the engineering depth, the customers and the research. The foundations are already here. What we now need is capital and resilient founders willing to build on them. This is what Kvanted backs, the founders building the companies that will define Europe’s new industrial era.
