“Driving Systemic Change Through Sustainable Innovation” – Introducing Suvi Haimi, Venture Partner at Kvanted

This article is part of our series spotlighting the people behind Kvanted, the Venture Partners and advisors who work closely with our investment team and portfolio companies to turn bold ideas into the next wave of industrial innovation. Meet the full Kvanted team here

Suvi Haimi is a scientist-turned-entrepreneur, investor, and board professional with a rare combination of academic, industrial, and entrepreneurial expertise. With a PhD in biomaterials, she co-founded Sulapac, the award-winning Finnish company replacing plastics with sustainable alternatives, and grew it into one of Europe’s most recognized circular economy startups. She has since become a leading voice in Europe’s startup ecosystem, served on boards of major Finnish industrial companies, and was part of Atomico’s Angel Programme, an initiative empowering experienced founders and operators to invest in and mentor the next generation of early-stage founders. Today, Suvi is building her new company Ovido, backed by Kvanted. Ovido tackles transparency in supply chains and product data.

“With Kvanted, we are talking about the possibility of pushing for systemic change, something that I have always felt passionate about as a sustainability-focused entrepreneur.”

What Does Your Role as a Venture Partner at Kvanted Look Like?

Suvi: My role is to support Kvanted’s portfolio founders in the areas where I’ve walked the path myself: product development, building strong brands, navigating long B2B sales cycles, and accessing the right networks. As a serial entrepreneur, I know the hurdles deep tech companies face when moving from lab to market. My job is to help founders anticipate those challenges and scale faster and more confidently.

Why Kvanted and Industrial Tech?

Suvi: Industrial technology is the backbone of Europe’s economy, but also the biggest source of emissions. Kvanted is uniquely positioned as the only pure-play industrial technology fund in the Nordics, with the ability to drive decarbonization at scale. For me, that’s very important. This is not just about incremental innovation. With Kvanted, we’re also talking about systemic change, and I want to be part of shaping that bigger movement.

Where Do You See the Biggest Opportunities in Industrial Innovation?

Suvi: Decarbonization through circularity and smarter supply chains is one of the most powerful shifts underway. Regulation, consumer demand, and cost pressures are pushing companies toward transparency and efficiency. At Ovido, we’re addressing exactly this need by helping companies centralize and streamline product data, anticipating requirements like the EU’s upcoming Digital Product Passport. In Kvanted’s portfolio, Cozero is a great example of a company doing the same for emissions data. Together, these solutions unlock the transparency and accountability industries now demand.

“Many teams spend years perfecting their product, only to realize too late that they have neglected how to position and communicate it. A strong, clear brand is what drives awareness, trust, and adoption.”

What Lessons Do You Share with Founders?

Suvi: First, never underestimate the power of branding and storytelling. Even the best technology struggles without a strong narrative that builds trust and adoption. Second, plan for long sales cycles in industrial markets. You’ll need early believers and pilot customers to validate your vision. Third, choose your investors wisely. The right investors bring not only capital, but also credibility, networks, and strategic support that go far beyond money. And finally: embrace mistakes. Risk-taking and experimentation are unavoidable in entrepreneurship, but trust, within your team, with investors, and with customers, is what carries you through. That’s also why I value Kvanted: it’s a safe harbour for ambitious founders with world-changing ideas.
